Shipping Container Rentals in Canada
Temporary Space, Right Where You Need It
Extra storage for the way you work. A rental container can help keep construction tools, renovation materials, business inventory and seasonal equipment close to where they are needed.
Place it at a suitable site for the agreed rental period, then arrange collection when the project is complete. Tell us about any temperature-sensitive items, unusual cargo or special access needs. Standard steel containers are not climate-controlled.
New 20ft Standard Container Rentals
New 20ft standard-height containers are a practical choice for tools, renovation materials, household items and smaller business inventories. A standard 20ft container measures 20ft long × 8ft wide × 8ft 6in high on the outside. Its smaller footprint may be easier to accommodate on tight properties, although the delivery truck still needs 90ft of clearance in a straight line for drop off. Ask our team to confirm available rental units in your area.
New 40ft High Cube Container Rentals
Need space for equipment, retail overflow or a larger project? A new 40ft high cube container measures 40ft long × 8ft wide × 9ft 6in high externally, with twice the floor area of a 20ft unit. The container will be delivered via tilt deck trailer, so no additional equipment is required for the offload, as long as there is a minimum of 110ft of clearance in a straight line for the drop-off. Please reach out to our sales team if you have any questions or concerns about placement, leveling or clearance.
What Affects Your Container Rental Cost?
How Shipping Container Rentals Work
Prepare Your Site for Container Delivery
The right site conditions help make delivery and collection smoother. Before you book, check:
- Ground: firm, reasonably level placement area able to support a loaded container.
- Access: enough room for the truck to approach, unload and leave safely.
- Clearance: no low wires, branches or structures obstructing the route.
- Permissions: any municipal, property or jobsite rules that apply.
For a tight or uneven site, send photographs and measurements so we can review the options. Delivery methods and pickup logistics depend on local circumstances. See our container delivery and relocation service.
Rent or Buy a Shipping Container?
Renting is generally worth exploring when you need temporary on-site storage for a renovation, construction project, seasonal inventory or another defined period. You can arrange for pickup after your rental ends instead of finding a permanent use for the container.
Buying may make more sense for long-term storage or when you plan to modify the unit, move it repeatedly or keep it as a permanent asset. Compare the full rental cost, including transportation, with the purchase price before deciding.
Buy your rental container later: After an eligible rental period, you can purchase the container. Your final month’s rental payment and the return transportation amount are deducted from the purchase price, with possible additional discounts based on the length of the rental. The eligibility period, credits and final buyout price are confirmed with StoreCan.

Shipping Container Rental FAQs
The minimum rental period is 3 months for both 20ft and 40ft HC containers. Your quote will confirm billing, the agreed rental dates and any arrangements for extending the rental.
Delivery and return pickup costs depend on your location and site access. We’ll itemize the applicable transport charges in your quote. If you later purchase the container through an eligible buyout, the return transportation amount is deducted from the purchase price as part of the buyout calculation.
Do not move a rental container without making arrangements first. Contact StoreCan with both locations so we can confirm whether relocation is possible and explain any additional charges.
Standard steel storage containers are commonly used for these items, but suitability depends on the unit condition and the items stored. For moisture-sensitive, hazardous or temperature-sensitive contents, discuss your requirements and insurance coverage before booking.
Rules vary by municipality, property and type of use. Check local zoning, permit and site requirements before scheduling your delivery.
Yes. You can purchase your rented container after an eligible rental period. The final month’s rent and the return transportation amount are deducted from the purchase price. Additional discounts may apply depending on how long you have rented the container.
The 3-month minimum rental period does not automatically determine when the buyout becomes available. StoreCan will confirm the eligible buyout date, any additional discounts, and the final purchase price.
